Description
CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) -Today, a Cordele city commissioner, Royce Reeves, was sentenced to probation for felony violation of oath, misdemeanor criminal trespass, and obstruction of an officer charges.
Royce Reeves will serve a total of 60 months of consecutive probation that will be subject to special drug and alcohol conditions. Additionally, Reeves will have to pay a total of $1500 in fines, and serve 40 hours of community service.
These charges stem back to an incident in June of 2021 where Reeves attempted to get onto the scene of his friend’s motorcycle crash. Reeves was found not guilty of additional charges, including felony obstruction of an officer and disorderly conduct.
At a later date, Reeves will go to trial once more in a separate case.
He was charged with conspiracy to sell marijuana, Gang Act B, use of a communication facility, and RICO in July of this year.
WALB is working to find out what today’s sentence means for his commission seat.
We have reached out to the city of Cordele’s attorney and we’re waiting to hear back.
