Dr. Marty Makary, a celebrated surgeon and teacher of public health at Johns Hopkins Medical School, sees this as one of the great blind spots of modern medicine and writes about it in his new book, "Blind Spots: When Medicine Gets It Wrong, and What It Means for Our Health."
"Why are we seeing all these diseases going up? We can't just keep medicating the population," Dr. Makary told The National Desk Monday morning.
