WASHINGTON (WTVC) — Now that the U.S. Department of Justice considers the Jeffrey Epstein child sex trafficking case closed, Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn (R), a vocal proponent of government transparency in the case, says she hopes financial records in the case can still bring some people to justice.

Sen. Blackburn has been vocal on X and elsewhere about the Epstein case for several years.
As recently as February 27th of this year, she tweeted on her X page,
Epstein’s client list and the information I requested to reveal his associates & business dealings are key to helping us crack this trafficking ring wide open.
But the news came out Monday that the Justice Department insists after a thorough review, there was actually “no incriminating client list.”
The memo, first reported by Axios, also says there was "no credible evidence found that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals as part of his action" and that Epstein did indeed commit suicide in his jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City on August 10, 2019.
On Wednesday morning, the WTVC newsroom noted that Blackburn had not commented on these new developments, and reached out via email to her office to get her reaction.
After getting no response, we followed up with our request at 4:30 p.m. An hour later, her office replied, calling our attention to this tweet from Senator Blackburn that she posted at 5:29 p.m.:
Sen. Blackburn says
For years, I have fought to expose the business associates of Jeffrey Epstein and those who were bankrolling his trafficking ring.
This has never been about celebrity - it has always been about achieving justice for the young women and girls who have been trafficked and abused.
Human trafficking generates more than $150 billion a year in profits, and I remain committed to breaking apart the human trafficking rings that ensnare innocent victims in modern-day slavery.
I’m hopeful we can still uncover this information from the financial records to assist law enforcement in locking up vile criminals.
For his part, President Donald Trump, who was a friend of Epstein's several years ago, appeared to be impatient with a reporter's question about the new update to the Epstein case.
Watch:
Attorney General Pam Bondi's explanation in the above clip does not appear to be appeasing some supporters of President Trump who had hoped he would shed more light on the Epstein case.
A number of influential MAGA podcasters have been enamored with Epstein's case.
Many influencers speculated Epstein had a client list containing names of some of the most influential and wealthy people in the world, and that there was a massive cover-up to prevent the list from seeing the light of day.
Megyn Kelly, host of "The Megyn Kelly Show," pointed most of her frustration at Attorney General Pam Bondi.
"She’s either lazy and incompetent or she willingly humiliated some of the President’s most loyal supporters, neither one of those is good and that’s why, I’m sorry, I’m going to predict her days are numbered as a member of the Trump administration," said Kelly on her show Tuesday.
