WASHINGTON (TNND) — Former President Donald Trump took part in a Latino Summit on Tuesday, joining a roundtable with Latino business leaders in Miami.

During the meeting, they discussed some of their top issues, including the trafficking of child migrants. They also cited their faith as a top reason for supporting him.

Last week, Trump took part in a Univision town hall, working to reach members of a group thatpolls show, have shifted in part to him, despite threats like sending members of the military to help patrol the border.

Trump has proposed bringing back an old law known as the Alien Enemies Act to assist him with his border crackdown efforts.

We have to go back to 1798 to target and dismantle every migrant criminal network operating on American soil," Trump said.

A second Trump term is expected to include a resurrection of policies from his first, like migrant protection protocols, also known as the "Remain in Mexico" policy. He has also promised to restart construction of the border wall and has repeatedly mentioned a new policy on the campaign trail, including at a rally on Saturday.

“Immediately upon taking the oath of office, I will launch the largest deportation program in American history," he said.

Donald Trump has often criticized the Biden-Harris Administration which oversaw a record number of illegal crossings, a trend that has reversed in recent months.

Vice President Kamala Harris has endorsed the Bipartisan Border Bill which would continue some more restrictive asylum policies, and add 1,500 new Customs and Border Protection Personnel, as well as 100 new Immigration Judges.

She has slammed Trump repeatedly for his role in blocking the bill from being passed.

During a Sept. 27 visit to the Southern border, Harris said, “He picked up the phone and called some friends in Congress and said stop the bill because you see he prefers to run on a problem instead of fixing a problem."

She also supports protecting those brought to the United States as children, known as "Dreamers," and helping them earn a pathway to citizenship, but has pivoted away from progressive policies she previously supported, like closing detention facilities and limiting deportations.

In an interview with Fox News last week, Harris said, “We must support and enforce federal law and that is exactly what we will do.”

A brand new Reuters - Ipsos poll reveals this issue remains top of mind for voters.

When asked what the next President should focus on the most in their first 100 days, those surveyed ranked immigration as the number one issue.
