ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The 14-year-old charged in connection to the September deadly shooting at Apalachee High School entered a not guilty plea.
Colt Gray entered his plea in Barrow County Superior Court on Tuesday, court documents show. He and his attorney also waived a formal arrangement and are also demanding a jury trial.
Gray is facing several charges stemming from the shooting that killed four and injured several others. He was indicted by a Barrow County grand jury on 55 counts, including felony and malice murder on Oct. 17.
Colin Gray, Colt’s father, was also charged and indicted in connection to the shooting incident. He is facing 29 counts, including second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to children, involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct. Law enforcement said they believe he gave Colt access to the gun used in the shooting.
Students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14, and teachers Cristina Irimie and Richard Aspinwall were killed in the Sept. 4 shooting.
Colt and Colin are expected to be tried separately.
Their next court date will be on Thursday, Nov. 21 in Barrow County.
