CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook about a crash involving a sheriff’s deputy who is a School Resource Officer (SRO).

According to the post, the accident happened near 13th Street and 21st Avenue on Thursday, Oct. 17, at around 8:35 a.m.

According to the crash report from Georgia State Patrol (GSP), The driver of a blue Toyota Camry was headed south on 13th Street and failed to stop at a stop sign. The SRO, who was in a white Chevrolet, was headed west on 21st Avenue when the blue Toyota ran the stop sign.

The Toyota then hit the back of the Chevrolet with its front, causing the Toyota to spin counterclockwise and come to an uncontrolled final rest on the southeast corner of the intersection. The Chevrolet came to a final rest in the westbound lane of 21st Avenue.

The SRO and the driver Toyota were transported to Crisp Regional Hospital.

The post said both the SRO and the driver were stable and responsive.

The report said that the driver of the Toyota was charged with the following:

  • Operation of unregistered vehicle or vehicle without current license plate
  • Failure to stop and yield
