Description
DECATUR COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) is warning residents about a phone scam targeting the area.
According to DCSO, callers are claiming victims missed court or have an active bench warrant and are demanding payment to avoid arrest.
Officials stressed that warrants are never cleared by payment. They said these calls are fraudulent.
Anyone who receives one of these calls is urged to hang up and verify directly with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office or local court before taking any action.
