Description
LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Dr. Kathleen E.K. Truitt, superintendent of the Lee County School System, was selected as a 2024-2025 Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).
This annual award is for superintendents from across the country. Each year, the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) recognizes up to 25 school district leaders with fewer than five years of experience as superintendents who demonstrate dynamic, fast-paced leadership with strong communication at its core.
According to the release, Dr. Truitt was selected based on her innovative and effective use of technology to engage and inform the school community, and to expand two-way communication and outreach efforts. “Dr. Truitt is an innovative, caring leader and consummate professional”, says Claire Lang, Lee County Board of Education Chairperson. “She is creative and innovative in her role as superintendent, she encourages students, and she enjoys sharing her extensive knowledge and experience with her colleagues and staff.

This national recognition is a great honor which Dr. Truitt only shares with 24 other colleagues across the nation.
NSPRA will feature Dr. Truitt in their member e-newsletter and on their website. She will also be recognized at the exclusive Superintendents’ Luncheon at the NSPRA 2025 National Seminar in Washington, D.C. “Since Dr. Truitt’s arrival in August 2023, Lee County has seen much improvement in our processes/procedures and academic achievement”, states Assistant Superintendent Kevin Dowling. “She is truly on the path of leading the Lee County School System from a very good school district to a great one! Needless to say, Lee County Schools is a better place because of Dr. Truitt’s presence.”
