Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A low-pressure system will slide a warm front northward through South Georgia. This front will increase temperatures and moisture tonight into Sunday. This will aid in the increase in cloud cover by Sunday afternoon and evening. Highs for the day will climb closer to the low 60s. A few isolated showers may accompany Sunday’s cloud cover, but Monday morning is the highest rain chance.
A strong cold front will bring a line of showers and storms late Sunday night into Monday morning. Ahead of that line, gusty winds out of the southwest are likely, with winds as high as 40 mph. The Storm Prediction Center has already placed most of South Georgia under a marginal risk for severe weather for these storms on Monday morning. Severe storms, with damaging winds and brief tornadoes, are possible as the line sweeps from 3 am to the early afternoon on Monday.
Temperatures will be the focus after the storms come to an end. We cool down quickly Monday evening heading to the upper 20s for Tuesday morning. This arctic air will continue with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s until the end of the week. The next rain chances arrive on Friday.
