Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The summer solstice officially happens at 10:42 PM this evening, kicking off the summer season despite the heat and humidity already soaring into the 90s the last few weeks. Today is no different, with high temperatures climbing into the low to mid-90s and heat index values close to the triple digits. Rain chances are low for this summer Friday.
Tonight, we are dry with partly cloudy skies and lows in the muggy 70s.
The weekend features more heat and humidity with highs in the 90s. Heat index values will climb into the triple digits as well, so make sure to practice heat safety by limiting time outdoors, drinking plenty of water, and wearing loose-fitting clothing. Rain chances will be isolated on Saturday, but coverage will be higher on Sunday.
Dry by the next work week, but the heat and humidity are on as highs climb further into the 90s with heat index values reaching toward 100 to 105 through the next work week.
