ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Georgia anglers have the chance to compete in two fishing grand slams in 2025. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GDNR) encourages anglers to compete in the Trout Slam and the Bass Slam.

In a “slam,” anglers are challenged to meet specific fishing requirements in the calendar year. Qualifying fish must be caught in Georgia.

Trout Slam

Those wanting a earn a Trout Slam must catch all three of Georgia’s trout species. That means catching a Rainbow, Brown, and Brook trout by the end of 2025. Participants must submit photos and information about the fish to verify the catch.

Successful slammers receive a special trout sticker and are entered into a grand prize drawing. The submission form can be found here, along with the full list of rules and regulations.

Bass Slam

Anglers looking for a more challenging slam can participate in the Bass Slam. To complete the challenge, five of Georgia’s ten bass species must be caught by the end of 2025. Qualifying bass include the following:

• Largemouth
• Smallmouth
• Shoal
• Suwannee
• Spotted
• Redeye
• Chattahoochee
• Tallapoosa
• Altamaha
• Bartram’s bass

Qualifying bass must meet all of Georgia’s legal-size limits or be at least eight inches in length if no limit is specified. The following information must be sent in to verify each catch.

• A photo of the bass
• A photo of the angler holding the bass
• The fish’s information (length and weight)
• The angler’s name
• The angler’s DNR customer number
• County where the fish was caught
• Name of the water body where the fish was caught

Those that complete the Bass Slam receive a personalized certificate, two passes for the Go Fish Education Center, and special stickers. Anglers will be recognized on social media and the GDNR website. Slammers will be entered to win an annual grand prize. Click here for the full list of rules and for the submission form.
