ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Across the state, students held a walkout to the Georgia State Capitol to protest gun laws after the shooting at Apalachee High School.

In Atlanta, school administrators accompanied the students. Students had signed permission slips from their parents that allowed them to join the protest.

Here in South Georgia, just one week after the shooting, several schools had multiple gun and bomb threats on social media.

Local law enforcement and school officials say, “this will not be tolerated.” Officials have released multiple statements along with press conferences that address the influx of gun threats to local schools.

In Lee County, parents say they are hoping that the threat of gun violence discontinues and does not happen again.

As of now in South Georgia, there have not been any planned protests or walkouts surrounding the change of gun violence laws.
