LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (TND) — A judge in a Kentucky town was shot and killed Thursday.
Governor Andy Beshear posted that a district judge in Letcher County was killed.
His post indicated that the deadly shooting happened inside the judge's chambers.
Beshear's post didn't identify the judge, but local media reported that investigators were looking into the death of District Judge Kevin Mullins.
A suspect was taken into custody, according to the Associated Press who spoke withKentucky State Police.
Police have not identified the victim and the suspect.
Beshear also said, "there is far too much violence in this world, and I pray there is a path to a better tomorrow" in his statement.
Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman said his office will collaborate with a commonwealth's attorney in the region as special prosecutors in the case.
“We will fully investigate and pursue justice,” Coleman said on social media.
