Description

CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A family is displaced after their home was damaged by a New Year’s Day fire.

According to Crisp County Fire and Rescue, on Jan. 1 at around 7:30 p.m.,  firefighters responded to a structure on Scenic Route. The first arriving units encountered heavy smoke and requested mutual aid and initiated an interior attack. Firefighters also encountered deteriorating conditions and transitioned to an exterior attack.

CCFR tells WALB that the home was under renovation and the family was not present at the time of the fire. CCFR also says that the home  received substantial damage.

“We are thankful for our Mutual Aid partners, Vienna Fire Department and Drayton Fire Department for their assistance.  Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and Crisp County EMS also responded and assisted.” says CCFR.
