ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Dozens of Albany and Dougherty County residents lined up the morning of April 5 to participate in a giveaway event.

Victory of Albany’s Jesus is the Answer Ministry giveaway featured food, furniture, clothing and more.

Located at the Albany Multiplex on Sylvester Road, Victory of Albany church hosts this completely free giveaway every first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.

Clothing, furniture, toys and books are donated by the community, while Feeding the Valley provides boxes of food for those in need.

Event Coordinator Rushie Berry explained the need in the community, saying, “We meet grandmothers who are raising the grandchildren, that the parents are in jail or they’re on drugs. The grandparents have seven or eight grandchildren that they’re taking care of. So, you know, there’s a need for it.”

Event coordinators are encouraging those in need to take advantage of this monthly giveaway.
