ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Back-to-school season is here, and the community is helping parents and students prepare with events that last until Aug. 5.
The Albany Police Department posted several events on their Facebook. Below are the events happening in the Good Life City:
Sunday, July 20
- The 4th Annual Back to School Funday will be held from 2-6 p.m. at 2501 Radium Springs Road. Free school supplies are available, as well as games, jump houses, and a live DJ. Anyone with questions or concerns is asked to contact:

Thursday, July 24
- The Dougherty County Police Department is holding its National Night Out from 4-7 p.m. at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds. Several free items will be given away, such as book bags, school supplies, food, and hygiene products.
Friday, July 25
- Amerigroup Community Care and Balancing the Equation are holding a Back-to-School Bash from 5-7 p.m. at 202 W. Broad Ave. Free supplies will be available while supplies last. There will also be live music, giveaways, and more.
Saturday, July 26
- A Back-2-School Braid and School Supplies Drive will be held at 1112 Inverness Road from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Braiders are needed to volunteer for the event. Call or text Trey at (229) 234-6444.
- A Carnival-themed Back to School Bash will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Shackleford Park. Free school supplies are available, along with face painting, nachos, hamburgers, and more. For more information, call Tykirian Wafford at (229) 603-8971.
- The 3rd Annual Back-to-School Giveaway will be held at 1206 North Jackson St. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The supplies are at a limit of two items per child. The child must be present in order to receive the supplies. For more information, call Melissa Collins at (229) 291-6604.
- A Back-2-School Bash will be held at Charles “Doc” Driskell Park Community Center, located at 1023 S. McKiney Ave., from noon until 4 p.m. Free supplies are available for all ages. Supplies are limited. For more information, contact Carl Route at (770) 855-5233 or [email protected].
- A Back-to-School Drive will be held from 1 p.m. until supplies last at Wellness Infusion, located at 2622 Dawson Road. The food will feature free supplies, food, and giveaways.
Sunday, July 27
- The Viper Unit Motorcycle Club is holding its 18th Annual Back-to-School Bash will be held from 1-4 p.m. at 2603 Rosebrier Ave. Free supplies and food will be available while supplies last. Free haircuts and bounce houses will also be available. For more information, call Poc Lil Tee at (229) 291-0751.
Wednesday, July 30
- A Back to School Bash will be held at Hilton Garden Inn Albany, located at 101 S. Front St., from noon until 3 p.m. The free community event will feature a school supply giveaway, food, games, and more.
- Kontraband Albany is holding a Back-to-School School Supplies Giveaway at 2125 Newton Road, Suite A, from 2-4 p.m. There will be free haircuts, $25 braided styles, food, and more.
Friday, August 1
- An extended day program will be available from Aug. 1, 2025, until May 22, 2026, Monday through Friday from 2:30-5:30 p.m. The program will feature enrichment activities, academic support, healthy snacks, recreation, and more. The program will be available at the following locations:
- Robert Cross Middle Magnet
- Lake Park Elementary
- Live Oak Elementary
- Lincoln Elementary
- Morningside Pre-K
- Magnolia Pre-K
Saturday, August 2
- A Back-to-School Supplies Giveaway will be held in the Flossie’s Soul Food Restaurant parking lot (2004 E. Oglethorpe Blvd.) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be free school supplies, food, bouncy houses, and door prizes. For more information, contact:

Tuesday, August 5
- The Albany Police Department will be holding a National Night Out from 5-7 p.m. at 1023 McKinley St. There will be free backpack giveaways to the first 100 participants. To receive a backpack, a parent or guardian is required to be present with the child. Music, food, community resources, vendors, games, and more will be available while supplies last.
