BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) - Knisha Perkins, the grandmother of the 8-year-old who was shot and killed in Decatur County, was granted a $50,000 bond on several conditions.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) released the bond amount and conditions on July 18. The total bond amount is $50,000, which accounts for $10,000 for each of the three counts of Felony Cruelty to Children in the 2nd degree and $20,000 for Felony Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.
Perkins was arrested on Tuesday, July 15 in connection to her grandson’s death. Officials say a 13-year-old boy shot and killed 8-year-old Kylen Powell while he was in Perkins’ home. Perkins’ was not in the home at the time of the shooting, officials say.
The other bond conditions are the following:
- Do not violate any state, local or federal law
- Do not possess or be under the influence of illegal drugs
- Do not possess or use any dangerous weapons to include firearms
- Do not change address without prior written notice to the State
