Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) -
A lack of rainfall over the next 10 days will surely worsen the drought that has plagued SGA for months now. Due to very dry and warm weather in the forecast, South Georgia will continue to carry the high fire danger risk through the next 7 days, at least. Use extreme caution if you are planning to burn, and stay up to date on any burn bans from your local officials.
TODAY: More sunshine will lead to warmer temperatures today. Chilly temperatures in the low-mid 50s greet us out the door this morning. A few light showers in our SW counties have eased up now, but the roads may still be wet this morning. Sunny skies is the story this afternoon with highs in mid-upper 70s. Winds will remain strong at times, with gusts up to 25 mph possible, but they are starting to relax compared to yesterday.

FRIDAY: Another chilly start to the day with morning lows in the low 50s. Sunny skies are expected as we end the work week as well with highs near 80 degrees. Winds continue to relax, but still a nice breeze at times is expected.
WEEKEND: We remain rain free and sunny. Lows remain cool in the low-mid 50s. Highs warm into the mid 80s.
NEXT WEEK: The warmth does not relent any, highs in the mid-upper 80s are expected through much of the upcoming work week. Some areas could see 90 degrees by next Wednesday. Rain chances remain near 0 through much of the upcoming work week, no meaningful rainfall is expected at any time during the next 7 days.
