Description
LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) — A Leesburg family has expanded its household and its hearts since adopting three foster children.
The Lee County courtroom was filled with smiles and hugs on Thursday, April 9, as 10-year-old Ca’myjah, 8-year-old Chase, and 6-year-old C’yanni watched their adoptive parents say ‘yes’ for a lifetime.

Stanley “Stan” Davis and Kerri Davis fostered the three children for eight months. They said the children’s parental rights were terminated, and they needed a permanent home.
“We just fell in love with them and we weren’t going to let them go back into the system,” Kerri Davis, the adoptive mother said.
Her husband, Stan Davis, added.
“If not us,” he said. “Than who”?

NECCO partnership
The Davis family came to NECCO, a foster care agency, a few years back to open as a foster home. NECCO partners with DFACS in surrounding counties to work with foster youth.
“Since they opened, they have been just a fantastic resource for our agency, for kids,” said Kaylene, the NECCO program director in Albany. “They’ve helped so many kids. They still maintain relationships with children that they have fostered in the past.”

Kaylene said the entire Davis family has embraced foster care.
“It’s not even just Mr. and Mrs. Davis. It’s their whole family has embraced foster care and what we do,” she said. “They’ve been able to help so many kids. And this in itself is amazing.”
An emotional courtroom
Even Chief Judge R. Rucker Smith of the Southwestern Judicial Circuit of Georgia grew emotional, saying he’s seen more families separated than reunited.
“This is one of the few times I get to actually do something good. And I enjoy doing it,” Judge Smith said. “I appreciate what y’all are doing. Ya’ll are undertaking a tremendous responsibility.”

The need for foster families
The Davis family says their commitment to fostering children led them to the adoption, and they encourage other families to also open their homes.
“The need is way higher than the number of children that are affected and that are currently in foster care,” Kerri Davis said. “So we need more homes.”
The Davises fostered 12 children before this adoption, who were able to be reunified with their biological families. They said they worked through each case and supported the biological families and parents.
“For as many bad stories that we have or things that did not go the way we thought they would, there’s always these successes like this that make it so worth it,” Kaylene, from NECCO, said. “Every bad situation led to this really good one. And it always makes it worth it for the kids.”

The Davises offered advice to families considering foster care.
“They’re going to get into your heart. You’re going to fall in love. And when you fall in love, make a home for those kids,” Kerri Davis said.
Now, the Davises are already making plans as a new party of eight. The parents said they have a vacation planned at the beach.
