VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - A woman is behind bars after an argument turned into a felony assault.

A Valdosta Police Department (VPD) press release alleges that 30-year-old Jahida Aieshae Shonte Norwood assaulted a woman near the DejaVu nightclub after an argument.

VPD said an investigation revealed that Norwood pointed a handgun at the victim. Norwood pistol-whipped the victim and knocked them to the ground, according to VPD. Norwood allegedly stole personal property from the victim during the assault.

VPD officers responded to the DejaVu nightclub around 2 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. Witnesses told officers the suspect was attempting to leave the scene in a vehicle.

Norwood was reportedly stopped by officers before she could leave a nearby parking lot. The officers had to physically remove Norwood from that vehicle after she repeatedly ignored their instructions, the police department said.

Norwood is charged with several felonies including armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a felony, VPD said.
