WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Trump is set to embark on his first major foreign trip of his second term, with a focus on business deals rather than foreign policy.
The four-day tour will take him to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, amid ongoing tensions with Iran and unfulfilled campaign promises to end the war in Gaza.
This trip ultimately highlights how we stand on the brink of the golden age for both America and the Middle East," said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
The agenda for the trip includes discussions on investments and business deals, such as Saudi Arabia's plan to invest $600 billion in the United States over the next four years. Despite the proximity to the conflict in Gaza, where civilians face severe hardships, and recent meetings with Israel's Prime Minister, Trump will not visit Israel on this trip.
In private, President Trump has reportedly expressed frustration over the prolonged Israel-Gaza conflict and Russia's war in Ukraine.
I say get this stupid war finished. That’s my message for both of them," Trump said on Friday.
Over the weekend, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European allies gathered in Kyiv, calling for a minimum 30-day ceasefire to start Monday.
"The unconditional ceasefire means no conditions," Zelenskyy said. Russian President Vladimir Putin responded by suggesting talks in Istanbul first.
Trump posted on social media, "Ukraine should agree to this, IMMEDIATELY. At least they will be able to determine whether or not a deal is possible, and if it is not, European leaders, and the U.S., will know where everything stands, and can proceed accordingly!"
Zelenskyy stated, "There is no point in prolonging the killings. And I will be waiting for Putin in Türkiye on Thursday. Personally. I hope that this time the Russians will not look for excuses."
