Tropical Satellite - 3D View
(WPDE) — SATURDAY 2 P.M. UPDATE
Three areas of tropical development potential are being highlighted by the National Hurricane Center.
One disturbance in the Bay of Campeche has a 70% chance of developing in the next 7 days in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico as the disturbance moves northerly.
This disturbance is a threat for the western Gulf Coast.
Another disturbance is in the central tropical Atlantic with a medium chance of developing slowly this coming week as it moves northwesterly into the southwestern Atlantic. There is plenty of time to watch this system and no cause for alarm at this time.
The last disturbance being monitored is west of the Cabo Verde Islands and has a small chance of gradually developing in the central tropical Atlantic. There is also plenty of time to watch this disturbance as it interacts with a tropical wave coming off the coast of Africa this coming week.
The Carolinas at this time does not have a tropical threat for at least the next 7 to 10 days.
Either way, the technical peak of hurricane season is approaching and it is always a good idea to check back in with the forecast for changes.
Stay tuned for daily updates from the Weather Authority Team.
