ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - We now know the charges pending in a separate case against a former Dougherty County Assistant Principal — who was sentenced to five years behind bars followed by 15 years on probation.

WALB previously reported in October that Horace Bentley was found guilty of sexual assault on a student and not guilty of child molestation.

This all comes after a cell phone video and allegations surfaced of Bentley touching a male student under the age of 16 in 2017. We also reported in October that the former assistant principal had a separate pending trial in Upson County, as well.

While the mugshot on your screen now is from his previous arrest in Dougherty County— according to Upson Clerk of Courts dockets— Bentley is being accused of sexual battery and reckless conduct in Upson. From an offense alleged to have happened in July of 2022.

Records show he was arrested less than three weeks after the alleged incident.

Bentley’s fate was decided by a judge in his case in Dougherty County— and records show his fate will be determined by a judge in Upson County as well.

According to the docket, Bentley is expected to appear before a judge for his case in Upson County on March 10 at 9 a.m.
