MACON COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — A traffic stop led to Montezuma police arresting two people for an attempted contraband drop at Macon State Prison.

According to a release, on Tuesday, a Montezuma police officer pulled over a vehicle for a window tint violation. With probable cause, the officer searched the car and discovered a bag with several wrapped items, including:

  • 257 packages (3.5 grams each) of "designer marijuana"
  • Two one-pound bags of marijuana
  • About two pounds of tobacco
  • 10 cartons of cigarettes
  • 30 vapes and one THC pen
  • 48 cellphones
  • One bottle of promethazine

This led police to believe the items were intended for inmates at Macon State Prison. As a result, Gregory Bryant of Nicholls, Ga. and Zambodre Moore of Douglas, Ga. were arrested and charged with the following:

  • Window tint violation
  • Conspiracy to commit a crime
  • Possession of a Schedule V controlled substance
  • Possession of THC
  • Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute

"The Montezuma Police Department would like to thank the Georgia Department of Corrections and the Macon County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance during this incident," MPD wrote on Facebook. "We appreciate their continued partnership in keeping our community safe and preventing illegal contraband from entering correctional facilities."
