ADEL, Ga. (WALB) - Game wardens with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) assisted in fishing a suspect out of the water on Monday, June 1.

Adel police officers responded to the Days Inn in reference to drug activity.

The suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Ryan Charles , failed to follow the officers’ commands. Ryan ran from officers before stealing a bicycle. Ryan evaded officers by jumping into a nearby pond.

Officers quickly located Charles on the other side of the pond and observed his location with a drone until DNR game wardens could assist with Charles’ arrest.

With a warrant, officers searched Ryan’s vehicle, finding a large plastic container with 99 grams of marijuana.

Ryan is being charged with:

• Obstruction
• Possession of drug-related objects
• Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
• Theft by taking

WALB is working to obtain a mugshot for Ryan.
