CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A Cordele man and his passenger were both arrested during a traffic stop initiated for a seatbelt violation.

On June 3, 2025, a deputy with the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on North 7th Street after noticing that the driver of a black Toyota SUV was not wearing a seatbelt.

When the vehicle came to a stop, the front-seat passenger exited the vehicle and moved to the back seat, according to the sheriff’s office.

A background check was conducted on the driver, Bryan Poole, and the passenger, Brenda Browning. Through the background check, it was determined that Browning had an active probation violation warrant in Crisp County.

The deputy conducted a search of the vehicle and both occupants. The sheriff’s office says that this search led to the discovery of a crystalline substance in a plastic container found in Poole’s front pocket.

Browning was taken into custody for her probation violation warrant, and Poole was arrested and charged with:

• Possession of methamphetamine
• Seatbelt violation

Both Poole and Browning were transported to the Crisp County Jail.
