TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) - A Tifton resident has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine sourced from Mexico.

According to a release from United States Attorney’s Office Middle District of Georgia, Travarious Deshawn Mike, 29, was sentenced on June 5 after pleading guilty to two counts of meth distribution. Authorities say he continued dealing drugs while wearing an ankle monitor and out on bond for a previous trafficking charge.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) seized over 8 kilograms of meth, heroin, and firearms during the investigation. Mike was ultimately caught after a high-speed chase in Monroe County, during which he tossed a pound of meth from his car before crashing and being arrested.

Federal officials say there is no parole in the system, and more investigations continue into the trafficking network.
