ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A stationary boundary draped across the South could lead to a few isolated showers and storms north of Highway 82, but there is enough dry air that most areas will remain dry. Tonight’s low will fall into the upper 60s and low 70s.

Sunday’s temperatures climb into the mid-90s with feel-like values in the mid to upper 90s, with plenty of sunshine through the morning and early afternoon. However, a stationary front will provide South Georgia a chance for scattered showers and storms on Sunday by the late afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has the region under a Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather, so a few strong to severe storms with damaging winds and small-sized hail are possible. Rain will start to wind down heading into Memorial Day morning.

A more active pattern is likely to kick off the unofficial start of summer. Daily scattered showers and storms as moisture from the Gulf continues providing fuel for storm development. Severe weather will be limited to gusty winds, lightning, small hail, and heavy rainfall through the end of the week. Besides rainfall, summer-like temperatures are taking over in the 90s most of the week, with high humidity making things feel hotter. Remember to limit your time outdoors in this kind of heat.
