Description

Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani was ordered by a judge Tuesday to turn over all his valuable possessions and his Manhattan penthouse apartment to the control of the Georgia election workers he defamed during the 2020 election.

Giuliani was found liable in August for defaming Wandrea “Shaye” Moss and her mother, Ruby Freeman and a jury awarded them almost $150 million.

Less than a week after the defamation case,Giuliani filed for bankruptcy and listed nearly $153 million in existing or potential debts.

Judge Lewis Liman said Giuliani must turn over his interest in his Madison Avenue co-op apartment to a receivership within seven days. The women will also be able to pursue about $2 million in legal fees Giuliani claims the Trump campaign still owes him.

“In the absence of a turnover order to a receiver, Plaintiffs would bear the unacceptable risk of delay and Defendant’s insolvency,” Liman wrote. “The Court finds no good cause to impose additional limits on the time or manner of the liquidation or prosecution of any other item or interest on the list.”

Additionally, he must turn over a collection of several watches, sports memorabilia including a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey, a 1980 Mercedes previously owned by Lauren Bacall, his television, certain items of furniture and other jewelry.

It has not been decided if Giuliani will be able to keep a Palm Beach, Florida condo he owns and four New York Yankees World Series rings supposedly given to him by his father.

Giuliani pleaded not guilty in September 2023 to charges that allege he – as well as Trump and 17 others – tried to illegally overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

The defense sought to largely pin the blame on a right-wing website that published the surveillance video of the two women counting ballots.

The women have said the false claims led to a barrage of violent threats and harassment that at one point led Freeman to leave her home for more than two months. In emotional testimony before the U.S. House Committee that investigated the U.S. Capitol attack, Moss recounted receiving an onslaught of threatening and racist messages.
