LAKELAND, Ga. (WALB) - Richard Hardy began his new role as Lanier County Administrator on Dec. 8.
Hardy announced his resignation as Valdosta City Manager Tuesday, Oct. 7. His resignation came after a special-called Valdosta City Council meeting was held to discuss his position.
Richard Hardy released the following statement:
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve as the County Administrator for Lanier County. I look forward to collaborating closely with our commissioners and giving my full commitment to the people of this community as we work together to strengthen and advance the future of our county.”
Hardy replaced Neal Ginty, who retired after 10 years as administrator, according to Lanier County Board of Commissioners.
Hardy said that while he anticipates a growing list of things to do, the intention is to learn more about the immediate needs in grants to support infrastructure, especially following the significant damage of Hurricane Helene.
