Description
BRUNSWICK, Ga. (WALB) - Dozens of cats and dogs are getting a second chance at life through a rescue mission taking off from the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport.
Volunteer pilots with Pilots To The Rescue are transporting around 40 animals. Many are coming from overcrowded and high-risk shelters in South Florida.
The animals are brought to Georgia, then flown to New Hampshire, where shelters have more space and higher adoption rates.

Some arrive healthy and ready for homes. Others come from neglect and abuse, making the rescue mission more critical.
Pilot Michael Schneider, who they call “Top Dog” or “Top Cat” depending on the rescue, said the animals are resilient.
The work doesn’t stop there. Schneider said he’s already preparing for another rescue flight out of Hinesville Friday, March 27, this time transporting birds.
