CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Love and Hip Hop television star and rapper Benzino, whose legal name is Raymond Scott, was arrested in Crisp County after a traffic stop on Interstate 75, according to an incident report from the Arabi Police Department.

Police said the stop occurred on June 9, when an officer using a laser speed detection device observed a silver SUV traveling 91 miles per hour in a 70-mph zone near the 92-mile marker on Georgia 401.

According to the report, Scott told the officer he did not have a valid driver’s license because of issues related to child support. While speaking with Scott, the officer reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Police said Scott admitted there was marijuana inside the SUV and directed officers to its location. During a search of the vehicle, officers found a bag containing suspected marijuana in the driver’s side door.

The report states a second bag containing suspected marijuana was found under a blanket in the back seat next to a passenger, identified as Ruth Lewis. Lewis reportedly told officers the marijuana belonged to her and was placed under arrest.

Authorities said a records check revealed Scott’s driver’s license was suspended for multiple offenses. He was taken into custody and transported to the Crisp County Jail.

The vehicle’s owner, identified as Ashley Bell, told officers Scott had been driving because she had taken medication and needed to sleep. Bell was cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate her vehicle, according to the report.

The recovered marijuana was collected and placed into evidence.

Scott and Lewis were booked into the Crisp County Jail on the listed charges. Additional court records were not immediately available.
