QUITMAN, Ga. (WALB) - A Quitman Police officer was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and charged with cruelty to children and negligence.

Charges were brought against both Deandre Tucker, 33, and his wife, Micayla Tucker, 30, according to the GBI.

Deandre Tucker is charged with:
  • One count of felony cruelty to children in the first degree
  • One count of felony cruelty to children in the second degree with negligence
Micayla Tucker is charged with:
  • One count of felony cruelty to children in the second degree with negligence

Both Tuckers were booked into the Brooks County Jail, GBI said.

On March 2, the Quitman Police Department (QPD) requested that the GBI investigate an allegation of child abuse against one of their police officers.

No further details about this case have been released.
