ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Ball Ground man wanted in a fatal Dawsonville shooting has been arrested after a chase that crossed state lines, authorities said.
The suspect, 52-year-old Roy “JoJo” Holloway, was taken into custody in Davidson County, North Carolina, where he was being searched for by sheriff’s deputies there, according to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement had been searching for Holloway since Tuesday night, when a shooting took place near Highway 136 just west of Keith Evans Road.
Holloway and the victim, 38-year-old Justin Thompson of Dawsonville, knew each other, deputies said. Authorities did not divulge the nature of their relationship.
After the shooting, Dawson County Sheriff’s deputies got word that Holloway may have been seen in North Carolina. Dawson authorities worked with local law enforcement there as well as federal authorities to track Holloway’s whereabouts.
Ariel Decarli, who was originally wanted for questioning by Dawson County deputies, was safe with family and treated for injuries, authorities said.
“We hope these developments bring some sense of peace to Justin’s family and friends, and we remain committed to seeing justice carried through,” Dawson County Sheriff Sheriff Jeff Johnson said.
