Description
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Atlanta will officially unveil a new Vietnam veterans memorial Sunday at Piedmont Park, a tribute meant to ensure the city’s fallen are remembered by name and by legacy.
The event kicks off at 1 p.m. with a parade.
The memorial honors 240 soldiers from Atlanta and Fulton County who never came home. Organizers say the site is intended to serve not only as a place of reflection for families and fellow veterans, but also as a public reminder of the cost of war for a community that continues to feel its impact decades later.
Set in one of Atlanta’s most visited public spaces, the monument will stand as a permanent marker of service and sacrifice — and as a gathering place for remembrance ceremonies and future generations looking to understand the human stories behind the Vietnam War.
The unveiling is expected to draw veterans, elected leaders, military families, and residents to Piedmont Park to pay tribute.
For many, the ceremony will be both a long-awaited moment of recognition and an opportunity to honor those whose names are etched into Atlanta’s history.
