LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A Lee County smoke shop is raided and shut down after deputies discovered the store had been distributing marijuana and hosting illegal gambling.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Smoke City on Highway 19 has been illegally distributing marijuana for months and they say they’ve received several complaints from residents.

The sheriff’s office shared their video of the bust on Facebook, producing it with the song “I Got Five On It” by Luniz.

Officials say they spent several hours this morning executing the search warrant and they say they recovered several pounds of marijuana that the shop was illegally selling.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has a message for other business owners in the area.

“Retail business has been the site of illegal marijuana distribution. For several months we’ve gotten numerous complaints out of it and we’ve purchased marijuana from this location on numerous occasions,” a Lee County investigator said. “In addition to that, we want to send a strong message to anyone who thinks that it’s okay to sell marijuana in Lee County, especially from a business. Having a business license doesn’t make it legal. It’s still illegal.”

It’s unclear how many people were arrested but investigators said many were involved.

Investigators said if there is any suspicion of illegal activity at any local business in Lee County, you should call the sheriff’s office.
