WASHINGTON (7News) — New developments have emerged in the search for Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old college student from Loudoun County who went missing during spring break in the Dominican Republic.
Interpol has issued a Yellow Notice --- a global police alert for a missing person, which is often used in cases of unexplained disappearances.
A spokesperson for the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) said Thursday that two detectives are now in the Dominican Republic working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)to assist in the search for Konanki.

Konanki was last seen exactly one week ago on the morning of March 6 at the Riu República Hotel in Punta Cana. Police said she disappeared at a beach by the hotel before dawn, as she and other guests had headed outside amid a power outage at the resort.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office confirmed to 7News Wednesday morning that they identified 24-year-old Joshua Riibe as a person of interest in connection to her disappearance. However, they note, "This is not at this time a criminal case, which would be different."
This comes after a new security video was posted on Noticias SIN, a news outlet in the Dominican Republic. The video shows Konanki and a group of friends walking to the beach in the early morning hours of March 6 at the hotel in Punta Cana.
The video then shows four friends returning to the hotel about an hour later. But the 20-year-old student and another man were not seen with them on security cameras.

According to ABC News, the man told police they were swimming and got caught in a wave, and then he fell asleep on the beach.
Riibe has not been accused of any crimes and authorities in the Dominican Republic have said he is not considered a suspect. The LCSO said that this remains a missing person investigation and not a criminal investigation.
Congressman Suhas Subramanyam said the family of the missing University of Pittsburgh student requests people to "not post videos, pictures, or unsubstantiated claims about Sudiksha, especially surveillance footage of her in the Dominican Republic."
The investigation is being treated as an accident, and it's believed she drowned, authorities said.
