QUITMAN, Ga. (WALB) - Firefighters with three South Georgia fire departments responded to a fire at a nearly 20,000sqft historic commercial building in the early hours of Friday morning.
At about 12:55 a.m. firefighters with the BCFD were called by the QFD to assist with a fire at the historic Walker Street School located at 400 North Walker Street in Quitman, Georgia.
According to BCFD, units arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure.
BCFD firefighters assisted with fire suppression operations and aided with the water supply. The Remerton Fire Department also responded to provide assistance with their ladder truck.
The three fire departments worked together and were able to mitigate the incident.
