NEW YORK (TNND) — Former Syracuse University basketball player and assistant to Sean "Diddy" Combs, Brendan Paul, will take the stand on Friday after a sick juror was unable to attend the trial on Wednesday, forcing the court to adjourn.
He is expected to testify about drugs he allegedly provided to his former boss.
Paul was arrested on drug charges in Miami in March 2024 after a civil lawsuit claimed he worked as a drug 'mule' for the rapper.
Jurors could begin deliberations as soon as next week for the trial after the defense stated on Tuesday that its case could last less than two days. However, that was before court was adjourned early on Wednesday.
Combs' defense team said it will take two to five days to present its case.
The shorter time means Combs will likely not testify. Testimony from two of his former girlfriends, Cassie Ventura and a woman using the pseudonym "Jane," took up two of the trial's six weeks.
They testified about similar experiences where Combs used threats and monetary incentives to coerce them into frequent multi-day sex marathons where Combs watched, directed and sometimes filmed them engaging with male sex workers.
The 55-year-old music mogul has pleaded not guilty to a five-count indictment and faces a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted on all charges. He was charged with sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, transportation for purposes of prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy.
Combs was arrested in September 2024, about roughly six months after federal authorities raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami. He has been jailed in Brooklyn since his arrest and denied bail multiple times.
