COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A 37-year-old Douglas man was arrested after calling 911 and reporting that someone was hacking his phone, according to the Douglas Now.

Deputies responded to an address on Elize Anderson Road around 10:15 p.m. on December 27, 2025, in reference to a phone hacking complaint. When officers arrived, the caller, identified as Edgar Cervantes-Garcia, told deputies someone was watching his phone and monitoring his activity.

The incident report states Cervantes-Garcia showed officers videos on his phone; however, deputies noted the videos showed nothing and “provided no context or relevance to the accusations that were being made.” Officers also reported that Cervantes-Garcia was not making sense at the time.

According to Douglas Now, Cervantes-Garcia had contacted 911 ten times within the past month, making various claims that people were underneath his house, interfering with his phone, and trying to kill him. Each time, deputies said they found no evidence to support the claims.

Following the most recent call, Cervantes-Garcia was arrested and charged with unlawful conduct during an emergency call. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail and later released.

WALB has reached out to officials for additional information surrounding this incident.
