ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – One person is dead after a shooting on Tuesday morning, according to the Dougherty County Coroner.

Coroner Michael Fowler said the incident happened on the 1200 block of Catalina Lane at around 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 7. Authorities confirmed the victim’s identification as Terrence Mathis, 39.

Mathis’ body was found on the back patio of the Catalina Lane residence with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Albany Police Department (APD).

Two suspects have also been named in this case.

Johnny Martin, 24, shot Mathis during an altercation, police said. Martin is charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during certain crimes and tampering with evidence, APD said in a press release.

Another 24-year-old, Isaiah Leroy, was arrested and charged for tampering with evidence in connection to this case, APD said.

Both Mathis and Leroy were taken to the Dougherty County Jail, according to the police department.
