MOULTRIE, Ga. (WALB) – A Colquitt County Sheriff’s deputy was seriously injured in a crash involving a semi-truck near the hospital in Moultrie.

According to Georgia State Patrol (GSP), a Wal-Mart semi was traveling south on GA 35 at Southside Drive when the crash occurred. The deputy was traveling east on Southside Drive and failed to stop at a stop sign, entering the path of the semi.

Authorities say the front of the semi struck the driver’s side of the patrol car.

The deputy was transported to a hospital in serious condition. The driver of the semi is also being treated for injuries.

The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) has been called to assist with the investigation.
