ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - After President Donald Trump said Coca-Cola agreed to use cane sugar in some of its U.S. drinks last week, the Atlanta-based company has confirmed the news itself.

In Coca-Cola’s second quarter 2025 results, officials said the beverage giant will launch “an offering” made with U.S. cane sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup this fall.

“This addition is designed to complement the company’s strong core portfolio and offer more choices across occasions and preferences,” the report, which was released on Tuesday, said.

Coca-Cola is already made with cane sugar in many countries outside the U.S., including Mexico, the United Kingdom and China.

In a social media post last Wednesday, Trump said he had spoken with the company about using cane sugar.

“I’d like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola,” the post said. “This will be a very good move by them — You’ll see. It’s just better!”

Trump is known as an avid Diet Coke fan. When he took office for the second time in January, Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey gifted him the first Presidential Commemorative Inaugural Diet Coke bottle.

Trump also reinstalled his infamous “Diet Coke button” at the Oval Office desk.
