ECHOLS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A Homerville man is wanted after a home invasion and kidnapping that happened earlier this month, officials announced in a Facebook post.

According to the Echols County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO), the incident happened at a migrant housing camp off of Highway 129 South on July 7.

The sheriff’s office said that Cameron Williams, from Homerville, is still at large.

Williams is described as a Black male, standing at around 5′6″ and weighing about 170 pounds.

ECSO said he is armed and dangerous and is known to frequent the Valdosta area.

Williams is wanted on the following charges:

  • 6 counts of Felony Armed Robbery
  • 9 counts of Felony Aggravated Assault
  • 8 counts of Felony Kidnapping
  • 1st Degree Home Invasion (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony

25-year-old Jeremiah Gilbert, of Valdosta, was arrested in connection with the incident. He is being charged with:

  • 6 counts of Felony Armed Robbery
  • 9 counts of Felony Aggravated Assault
  • 8 counts of Felony Kidnapping
  • First Degree Felony Home Invasion
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony

Gilbert is currently being held at the Lowndes County Jail.

Their teamwork, professionalism, and long hours have played a vital role in bringing justice to our community and ensuring the safety of our citizens,” the Facebook post said.

Anyone who sees Williams, or knows of his whereabouts, is asked to call ECSO at (229) 559-5603, the GBI Thomasville Office at (229) 225-4090 or call 911 immediately. Tipsters may remain anonymous.

ECSO said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is assisting in this investigation.
