CAIRO, Ga. (WALB) - A warming shelter is open in Cairo providing a safe place for residents seeking relief from freezing temperatures.

The Good Samaritan Shelter at Bethlehem AME Church opened its doors at 6 a.m. for individuals and families who may not have adequate heat in their homes or who are experiencing homelessness.

The shelter is located at 412 2nd Street SW, Cairo, GA 39828.

Community members in need of shelter from the cold are encouraged to take advantage of the service. City and community leaders emphasize the importance of sharing this information with anyone who may be vulnerable during the ongoing cold weather.
