Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced that an Albany teenager has been indicted in connection with two shootings that occurred during Albany State University’s (ASU) Homecoming festivities on Oct. 19, 2024.
According to the indictment, 18-year-old Jeremy Marshall is accused of being involved in both shootings, which prosecutors say stemmed from an ongoing rivalry between two hybrid street gangs, the Blockos (also known as the 4 Blickie Gang) and the Purps.

The first shooting took place near a crowded campus concert, where several people were injured either by gunfire or while fleeing. Victims included a 16-year-old girl shot in the calf, a 17-year-old girl shot in the leg, and a 20-year-old woman grazed by a bullet.
Roughly five minutes later, the second shooting occurred near Sands Drive, about 600 yards away. Nineteen-year-old De’Marion Tashawn Daniels of Newnan was killed, and a 13-year-old girl was shot in the leg.
“This should have been a weekend of celebration for the Albany State community. Instead, one teenager lost his life, several others were injured, and hundreds of innocent people were put in harm’s way,” Carr said. “We won’t rest until justice is served.”
The case was investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), ASU Police Department, and the Attorney General’s Gang Prosecution Unit, which has secured nearly 20 gang-related convictions in Dougherty County since 2022.
On Aug. 20, 2025, a Dougherty County Grand Jury indicted Marshall on multiple charges, including:
- 1 count of Malice Murder
- 2 counts of Felony Murder
- 8 counts of Aggravated Assault
- 12 counts of Violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act
- 5 counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- 1 count of Criminal Damage to Property in the First Degree
“The violence that occurred during this homecoming event was senseless and tragic,” GBI Director Chris Hosey said. “The GBI remains steadfast in working with our partners to confront gang activity, pursue justice for victims, and protect the safety of communities across Georgia.”
