ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - One person was killed and five people were injured in a shooting at one of Albany State University’s Homecoming events late Saturday night.

On Monday afternoon, ASU Interim President Dr. Lawrence Drake II delivered a message about the shooting.

“We are deeply sad that such a celebratory event, such as ASU‘s Homecoming 2024, had to be tragically interrupted by events that took place late in the evening on October the 19th. Our hearts go out to the victim’s family and all those directly affected by these senseless acts of violence,“ he said in the statement.
