GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – A 26-year-old Albany man, George Rowe, faces multiple charges after attempting to flee from law enforcement during a traffic stop.

On Saturday, April 5, at around 8:00 p.m., the Grady County Sheriff’s Office says the situation escalated when Rowe deliberately tried to strike a deputy with his vehicle.

The chase began when Rowe failed to stop for the deputy and drove erratically. In an attempt to protect public safety, the pursuing officer executed a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT), which successfully disabled Rowe’s vehicle. During the arrest, deputies discovered stolen firearms inside the car.

Rowe, who has known gang affiliations, now faces a range of charges, including:

  • Felony Fleeing and Eluding
  • Felony Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Theft by Receiving Stolen Property
  • Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Crime
  • Numerous Traffic Violations

His passenger, 21-year-old Jaylon Davis of Cairo, was also arrested and charged with:

  • Theft by Receiving Stolen Property
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Grady County Sheriff Martin E. Prince praised the officers’ professionalism in handling the situation and commended the support from the Georgia State Patrol, Whigham Police Department, and Cairo Police Department.

“The reckless actions of these individuals put everyone in danger, but our deputies handled the situation with skill and determination,” said Sheriff Prince. “Fleeing from law enforcement is a serious crime, and we will hold those accountable who put our community at risk.”

The Grady County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to the safety and well-being of its residents and will continue to pursue justice for criminal activities in the area.
