WASHINGTON (7News) — The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments Wednesday in the case of Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, a pivotal legal battle that could determine whether states have the authority to refuse funding to Planned Parenthood.
The case has sparked significant attention, with the March for Life organizing a "Choose Health, Not Harm Rally" on the steps of the SCOTUS to coincide with the hearing. A pro-abortion protest is also set to take place ahead of the hearing.

Jennie Bradley Lichter, President of the March for Life, emphasized the importance of the rally, stating, "The March for Life will stand strong in our nation’s capital to make it clear that Americans don’t want their hard-earned tax dollars propping up the abortion industry."
One of the rallies aims to gather anti-abortion supporters to advocate for the defunding of Planned Parenthood and to promote alternative healthcare services that align with their values.
A victory in this case could pave the way for states, starting with South Carolina, to defund Planned Parenthood and redirect funds to other healthcare services, a move that would significantly affect millions of individuals relying on the organization for care.

States such as Texas, Mississippi, Missouri, and Arkansas have already taken steps to block Medicaid funding from the organization, and more could follow if South Carolina succeeds in its challenge.
Advocates said such actions could leave vulnerable populations with fewer options for essential reproductive health services.
