VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV, WALB) - An 18-year-old and a 16-year-old are in custody following a shooting and armed robbery on Baymeadows Drive in Valdosta, according to a Valdosta Police Department (VPD) press release.

Both suspects were charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

VPD said the shooting occurred Friday, Dec. 19 at about 4:50 p.m. and police were notified by several witnesses. A man named Jordan Warren, 35, was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his chest. Warren later died at the South Georgia Medical Center, per VPD.

Witnesses told police that two men had approached Warren with a firearm and taken a “backpack-style bag” from him.

According to the press release, Warren then pulled away from the two men and took out a firearm. Then, multiple shots were heard from witnesses, VPD said. Police said the victim was shot once in the chest.

Authorities quickly accessed surveillance footage and witnessed two people running from the shooting. They tracked those suspects to a residence in the 1500 block of Baymeadows Drive using the footage and witness accounts, per the release.

Valdosta Police said two people inside the residence matched the description of the people running in the surveillance footage. Jeremiah Albritton, 18, and a 16-year-old juvenile male were taken into custody by VPD.

Authorities also obtained a search warrant for the residence and located more evidence that was connected to the shooting. Further evidence that VPD said appeared to be connected to the robbery was found in a wooded area by K9s.

Albritton was taken to Lowndes County Jail and the juvenile was taken to a Regional Youth Detention Center.

VPD said this case remains active. WALB will provide updates as we learn more.
